what is incident ray and emergent ray ?

The ray which originally falls on the surface of a medium is the incident ray.

The ray which finally emerges out of the other medium back to the original one is called the emergent ray

here AO is the incident ray and BC is the emergent ray.

its quiet easy, look, the ray which falls obliquely in a medium  which is optically rarer  or denser than the medium from which its coming is incident ray & the ray which  out after refraction is the emargeht ray

Ray which fall on the surface called incident ray. and reflected ray which emerges from a medium called emergent ray.it always parllel to incident ray

The emergent ray is the ray of light which passes through a denser medium(glass) to a rarer medium(air).

The ray which falls on any reflecting surface is known as incident ray so that after reflection the angle made by the incident ray and the normal is always equal to the angle made by the reflected ray and the normal
  • 1
Any ray which falls on the surface is known as the incident ray and the ray reflected back at the same angle is known as the reflected ray . Also the normal is a imaginary line drawn between the angle of incidence and angle of reflection.

Solution 1:Incident ray is the ray that passes on the normal creating angle of incidence and the ray which comes back after passing the normal is reflected ray.
Solution 2: Emergent ray is the ray that emerges ( moves) out of the refracted surface
