What is " Langerhans " named after ,in the word "Islets of Langerhans" ?

Dear Student

The endocrine pancreas is composed of small islands of cells, called the islets of Langerhans.

The discoverer of the Pancreas assumed these cells sit in group of small islands, so called them as Islets ( which means small islands).
Langerhans word is used after  name of scientist  German pathologist Paul Langerhans, who discovered region of the pancreas that contain endocrine cells.
