what is meant by concentration gradient????

Concentration gradient is the gradual difference in the concentration of solutes in a solution between two regions. In biology, a gradient results from an unequal distribution of ions across the cell membrane. When this happens, solutes move along a concentration gradient (from higher concentration to lower concentration). This kind of movement is called diffusion.

Concentration gradient is the concentration difference.

eg. Passive transport takes place from higher concentration to lower concentration, so it's is along the concentration gradient.

in contrast, active transport takes place from lower concentration to higher concentration and so it is against the concentration gradient.

hope it helps!
