What is meant by predominantly ionic?

Predominantly ionic means majorly ionic. For example when we say that the compounds of s block elements are predominantly ionic, it means that the compounds of s-block elements are mainly ionic in nature, while a few are covalent. Similarly a predominantly ionic bond means a bond that has a major proportion of ionic character than covalent character.
