What is phospholipid?

Phospholipid is a type of lipid which is made up of fatty acid, glycerol and a phosphate group. In phospholipids the phosphate group forms the head and it is hydrophilic in nature where as the fatty acids forms the tail and it is hydrophobic in nature. Phospholipids are mainly found in the cell membrane.

Some examples are lecithin, phosphatidylcholine etc.
