what is the difference between general, by, midterm election

General election is a kind of election which is held after certain period of time (5 years in India) for all constituencies at the same day or within few days.

By election is held to fill the vacant seat that fall vacant due to death of a candidate or other reasons like resignations. It held only in that particular constituency.

Mid term election is held when a lok sabha or a state assmbly dissolve as a whole before the expirying peiod. It is held to form the new house.

General Election: In India, Lok Sabha and Vdhan Sabha elections are held regularly after every five years.

By-Election: Sometimes election is held only for one cconstituency to fill the vacancy caused by death or resignation of a member.
