What is the difference between smelting and melting

Smelting Melting
a. It is the process of extracting  metal from ore and getting its original pure form. It is the process of transforming a solid substance in a liquid state.
b. It involves a series of processes like chemical reaction, melting. It is the process done through heating of a substance. At times both heat and pressure is used to melt a substance.
c. Smelting is done on metals like gold, iron, copper. Melting is involved to mould substances in various forms.
