Loss is an abstract idea. In a world of possession, there will be losses. No matter how many times one gets another thing innthe place of the thing he hast lost, the experience is always new and fresh. The lost ball can be compared to lost persons too. If a person is dead or lost forever, there is no getting back.

For a little child like the boy in the poem, "The Ball Poem", it is a fresh loss. A first sad experience that is led by his world of possession. But he is not taken aback by its floating away far from him. He stands up and decides to dive into his loss to find his happiness because he is no longer a child, he has grown up....

in this world of possessions everybody has lose something at some point of time in their life. we might experience loss many times but every experience we achieve teaches us something new. in 'the ball poem ' the lost ball has been used as a metaphor for lost people or lost youth of the boy which cannot return back and cannot be compensated.
for the little boy in this poem it was his first experience of loss and he had yet not learned how to stand up and move on. thus the epistemology of loss is to understand the loss and try to move on as life goes on no matter if we lose something. we shouldnt dwell on the past and learn to stand back again.

In this materialistic world, many of the boy's will be lost . He personifies the as the belongings, be it the worldly things or the relationships he is in possession of. One has to learn to live without them no matter what as no one can buy back such things for him. One of the major aspects of the poem is that it emphasizes on the fact that memories and emotions that we lost cannot be bought back with money. He has to understand that money can't buy you everything. Even if it does buy you a any materialistic thing ,still, it will not remain with you forever . Money can't buy the sense of belongingness. The poet says that the boy is trying to learn how to stand up against the sense of lost things . This means that the boy is trying learn the truth of life and how harsh the reality is . The poet trys to tell us that we have to accept the miseries of life and stand up again. The one who withstands the miseries of life and learns to stand up again all the odds wins race of life.
