Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is the full form of AIDS. AIDS is a viral disease. It effects the immune system.The person suffering from AIDS became weak and unable to fight the disease and disease causing microbes. As AIDS effect the immune system of the person the person became susceptible to other infectious diseases. 

AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV(Human immunodeficiency virus).
