what is the function of gastric glands
Gastric glands:
These glands are present in the stomach, formed by the mucosal lining of the alimentary canal.
These glands secrete gastric juice which contains:
1). Pepsinogen: Its active is pepsin. It helps in the digestion of proteins.
2) Hydrochloric acid : It kills the germs present in the stomach as well as it maintains an acidic nature which helps the enzyme pepsin to act on proteins.
3) Mucuos: It acts as a protective layer for the walls of the stomach against HCL .
