What is the importance of reservation in the process of governance

Reservation is provided to the underprivileged section of our society like the minority communities of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Women, some minority religious communities, etc. These communities are provided reservations in government jobs, seats in government schools and colleges, etc. This is done in order to ensure equal rights and avoid discrimination so that they do not feel excluded from society and have equal opportunities in every sector.
Sometimes the needs and problems of these minority communities are not able to reach the center and are left unheard. Thus, there is a requirement of reservation for these communities in governance as well so that their problems reach the higher levels of government and their needs are fulfilled.
