what is the meaning of discrete frequency distribution ?
discrete frequency distribution:
discrete data is generated by counting. in an observation, we will count that how many times a particular value is repeated , the number of repetition is frequency.
For example, if we have to form a discrete series of the number of girls in the school with 20 classrooms, we will note down the number of classes having 0,1, 2, 3 or more number of girls. Suppose the data collected about 20 classes is as given below:
4,4,2,5,1,0,3,4,2,6,5,6,3,2,6,4,1,5,3,5
Let us make the frequency distribution. The variable here is number of girls and minimum and maximum vales are 0 and 6.In the tally column we will put the tally marks for the number of times the data has occurred.
Number of girls
| Tally | frequency |
0 | I | 1 |
1 | II | 2 |
2 | III | 3 |
3 | III | 3 |
4 | IIII | 4 |
5 | IIII | 4 |
6 | III | 3 |
| Total | 20 |
