What is the meaning of frivolous rebukes and the sagging skins of the dilapidated drum in chapter 1 , hornbill. No links.

Dear Student,

Frivolous rebukes refer to the reprimands and criticism by the author's grandmother for the sparrows. Since the latter wouldn't understand human language, the remarks have been called frivolous.
Sagging skin of the dilapidated drum refers to the deteriorated condition of the drum that the grandmother played, even when the drum was clearly in a state of disrepair.
