# what is the  predecessor of -99 ?

-98

@bioboy, ur wrong.. heres the answer.

predecessor means 'preceding', means hich comes before. If we ask what is the predecessor of 2, we will immediately subtract 1 from the no. 2, and result we get wl be, 2-1=1..

in this case, the given no. is -99. therefore, its predecessor will be, -99-1=-100. hope it clears ur doubt.
note: at negative terms, the num which apperar greater is actually smaller, i..e. if the terms were positive,  100 will be greater than 99, but when negative sign comes before both nos., 100 becomes smaller. :)
thumbs up plz. :)

-98 because we will go right

• 0

-100

• -1

-100

as -99-1 =-100 (predecessor means subtractin one)

• -2

we will go left as we have to subtract one

• 0

yes -100, arpit is correct

• -2

but when it is predecessor we have to - and the ans. is -98

can you explain it again.

i can't under stand this concept.

• 1

are you right i think you are because,-99-(1)

= - -=+

=-(1)

=bracket will be opened

=-99+1

but +signs will not be shown so it  will be

=-99-1

the answer is -100.

Hi!

Predecessor is the number that comes just before a particular number. Predecessor of a number is obtained by subtracting 1 from given number.
Predecessor of –99 = –99 –1 = –100

Cheers!

yes the ans is -100 cause it is the number which is smaller than the no. given and -100 is smaller than-99
