# what is the real life application of surface area and volume in real life ? ( in general )

In real life you could use surface area to find out how much cardboard makes up a box

Example : surface area of cylinder is

$S=2\pi rh+2\pi {r}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}S=surfacearea\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}r=radius\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}h=height\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}$$S=2\pi rh+2\pi {r}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}S=surfacearea\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}r=radius\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}h=height\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}$

also, you can use surface area in wrapping a gift.

In real life application volume is used in following cases

a) fuelling up

b) cooking and baking

c) Water conservation..etc
