What is the role of basophils in inflammatory reactions?

Dear student.

Basophils protect body from infections and are involved in inflammatory reactions in the body.

Functions of Basophils:

  • Prevents blood from clotting too quickly.
  • Promotes blood flow to tissues.
The granules in the basophil contain histamine, which help in the inflammator response, when tissue gets damage. Histamine dilates the blood vessels at the site of damage and are also involved in allergies.

Regards.
