Transitive  verb  is  a  verb  which  takes  a  Direct  object.  The  direct  object  can  be  found  by  asking  the  questions  Whom  or  What.  A  transitive  verb,  therefore,  is  a  verb  which  is  capable  of  yielding  an  answer  to  the  question  Whom  or  What.

For  example,

  • saw  the  accident.
  • He  helped  us.
  • She  likes  novels.

An  Intransitive  verb  is  a  verb  which  cannot  take  a  direct  object.

For  example,

  • He  is  sleeping.
  • He  walks  slowly.
  • Isaac  laughed  loudly.
