What is volume by volume percentage

Dear Student

Volume by volume percentage of a solution is defined as the ratio of the volume of solute to total volume of solution multiplied by 100.

Volume by volume percentage of a solution = (Volume of solute / Volume of solution) X 100

where, Volume of a solution = Volume of solute + Volume of solvent

Example: A 5 % solution of ethanol in water means 5 ml of ethanol is dissolved in 95 ml of water, so that total volume of solution is 100 ml.
