what is wattless current?

Dear Student!

The current which does not dissipates any energy is called wattless current. In an AC circuit, the capacitor and inductor oppose the change in current , but do not dissipate it. Instead, they store the energy in form of electric and magnetic field respectively. At the time of resonance, the potential difference across capacitor-inductor is zero. The current flowing at this time is called wattless current. For the same reason, capacitor and inductor are also called wattless components.

Hope it is clear!
Best wishes!!
