What kind of democracy does India have?

Dear Student,


a. In looking into the huge population and size of the country, India opted for representative or indirect democracy.
b. Under  representative democracy people participate in the governance of the country not directly rather indirectly by virtue of their elected representatives.
c. Elections are the means through which people elect their representatives who in turn make policies for the people.
d. Another important aspect of representative democracy is the principle of universal adult franchise , which guarantees right to vote to all that and that every vote has equal value, such a system has been duly guaranteed by our constitution which extends legal and political equality to all, and guarantees right to vote to all, irrespective of any differences.
e.The representatives so elected are answerable and accountable to the people.
