is it ri8 that annuals n biennials r monocarpic . if yes , why so?

  • Perennial plants survive for more than two years and produce fruits and flowers during specific seasons. When they bear fruits every year, they are called polycarpic.  Example: Mango, Apple, Coconut etc. Some plants produce flowers and fruits only once after a vegetative growth of several years. These are called Monocarpic. Example: Agave, Bamboo etc.

  • Monocarpic are the plants that produce fruit only once in their lifetime and then die. All Annual and Biennials are monocarpic. Annuals complete their life cycle within one growing season and Biennials complete their life cycle in two years.
