what reason did Mrs. dorling give to the narrator for nnot letting her in the house?what was the actual cause behind it?

When the narrator went to Mrs. Dorling’s house and introduced herself before her, she just stares at her. Mrs. Dorling refuses to recognize her and so did not allow her to get inside her house.
Mrs. Dorling had taken advantage of the narrator’s mother’s insecurities about the war and had given her confidence that she will look after her valuable things until the war was over. So, the narrator’s mother trusted her and gave all the precious things to Mrs. Dorling for safekeeping. Mrs. Dorling also took away many precious things from the narrator’s house. However, she did not have any intention of returning them. So, she did not allow to the narrator to enter her house because she was afraid that the narrator would take away the things.
