What were Dr. Andrew thoughts while sitting in the kitchen?

Andrew was having mixed feelings about the prospect of marriage. He was thinking about the people around him, the people he knew, who were in difficult relationships. Bramwell was unwisely devoted to a woman who deceived him. Edward Page, the doctor he was the assistant to, was bound to the "shrewish Blodwen". Denny was separated from his wife, and was unhappy for that reason. Marriage, given these examples around him, seemed to be a painful situation to find oneself in. However, he was also deeply in love with Christine and the vision of marriage to her appeared to him only as beautiful and idyllic. While his heart was full of love and dreams of a happy marriage, his rational mind told him otherwise. These were his thoughts while sitting in the kitchen.
