What were Mandela's view about the black people who fought and sacrificed their lives for the country's political independence? (8 Marks Question)

Dear student,

Nelson Mandela wished to thank all the black people who had fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their land and felt sorry that he could not do so. He regretted the fact that those noble people could not live to see the result of their sacrifice. He felt he was the sum total of all those patriots who believed in freedom and made the supreme sacrifice fighting for emancipation from oppressive rule.
