What will happen if an RBC is placed in:
(i)0.5% NaCl solution (ii) 1% NaCl solution ? Explain.
i) When placed in 0.5% NaCl solution, the RBC's will swell due to movement of water inside it resulting due to osmosis. It will lead to cell burst.
ii) When RBC's are placed in hypertonic solution, the cells will shrink due to movement of water out of the cell, it will lead to shrinking of RBC's due to plasmolysis.
ii) When RBC's are placed in hypertonic solution, the cells will shrink due to movement of water out of the cell, it will lead to shrinking of RBC's due to plasmolysis.
