What will happen if we combine an animal cell and an plant cell?

Different cell types can be made to fuse artificially by a process called cell fusion. Cell fusion results in a new cell known as the hybrid cell. However, a plant cell is surrounded by a cell wall. Due to this reason, a plant cell cannot be fused with an animal cell unless its cell wall is removed. Cell wall can be broken down using specific enzymes that leave the cell membrane intact. Following this, if the plant protoplasts and animal cells are made to fuse under the right conditions, the two cells will combine and there contents will mix. However, the rate at which this will occur would be very low with a very small probability of fusion.
