What will you observe when : (i) Carbon disulphide is added to the compound iron sulphide. (ii) Dil. Hydrochloric acid is added to a mixture of iron filings and sulphur powder.

(i) There will be no reaction. Carbon disulphide is a colourless liquid.
Iron sulphide is ionic compound while carbon disulphide is a non-polar molecule.

Iron sulphide is not soluble in carbon disulphide and hence the carbon disulphide remains colourless.

(ii)
When dil HCl is added to a mixture of iron filings and sulphur powder, then iron  being more reactive than hydrogen will displace hydrogen from the acid, forming its salt instead. Sulphur powder will not react with HCl. Following is the reaction between Fe and HCl

 Fe + 2HCl → FeCl2 + H2
