when C6H5CCl3 is reacted with (Br2/Fe) , why Br is substituted at meta-position. explain briefly.

Dear Student, -CCl3 is electron withdrawing group. It creates electron deficiency at ortho and para position, but not at meta. So the incoming electrophile i.e. Br+ gets substituted at meta position. Regards.
