let the number be x
when x is multiplied by 6 = 6x
5 is subtracted from the product= 6x-5
the result is 7 :- 6x-5 =7
x =?
=> 6x -5 =7
=> 6x = 7+5
=> 6x = 12
=>x = 12/6
=> x = 2
therefore x = 2
verify answer = (6 x 2 ) -5 =7
