Total net force acting :
ma=mg−T
where T is the tension in the string,
a is the downwards acceleration,
g is the acceleration due to gravity,
and m is the mass of the fireman.
T = mg-ma
=> T = mg - 2/3(mg)
Since tension in the rope is 'ma'
So , ma = mg-2/3(mg)
=> ma = m[3g-2g)/3a
=> a = g/3
∴ minimum acceleration he should slide down is g/3
