Why are majority of plants nutrient elements called mineral nutrients ?

Dear student.

Majority of the plants nutrient elements called mineral nutrients as they are obtained from soil.  Plants get C, H, and O from carbon dioxide and water and are referred as non-mineral elements, the rest is obtained from soil and are referred as essential mineral elements.
