WHY ARE NEUTROPHILLS AND MONOCYTES CALLED phagocytic.

Both Neutrophils & Monocytes are the types of leucocytes cells. Leucocytes are also known as white blood cells (WBC) as they are colourless due to the lack of haemoglobin. Leucocytes are further divided into granulocyte & agranulocyte cells. Neutrophils are the types of granulocyte cells whereas monocytes are the type of agranulocyte cells. These are the part of innate immunity and act as cellular barriers. They are said to be phagocytic cells as they destroy foreign organisms entering the body by phagocytosis.
