why are traits acquired during the lifetime of an individual  not inherited..

This happens because an acquired trait involves change in non-reproductive tissues (somatic cells) which cannot be passed on to germ cells or the progeny. Therefore, these traits cannot be inherited.

hope this helps

The acquired traits are structural, functional and behavioral changes that an individual develops

during  life time due to various environment parameters. Any change in non productive tissues cannot be
passed on to DNA of germ cells, since they remain restricted to somatic cells. Life time achievements of
intellectual intelligence are destroyed with death and are not hereditary.

For a trait of an organism to be inherited,it should bring about a change in the genes present in the reproductive cells or gametes of that organism. The trait acquried during the life-time of a person do not bring about a change in the genes present in its reproductive cells or gametes and hence they are not inherited by the offsprings.

This happens because acquired traits appears in the individuals temporarily in response to the environment and not appears on the genes. So,acquired traits cannot be inherited to progeny .

Acquired traits are the traits which are  acquired during the life time of an individual.
These acquired traits affect the functioning of the organs, cells and tissues and do not effect the genetic material. So they are not inherited.

The germ cells of sexually reproducing populations are made in specialized reproductive tissue. Change in non-reproductive tissues, on account of acquired traits, cannot be passed on to the DNA of the germ cells. Therefore, experience gained or traits acquired during the life-time of an individual not inherited. For example, Offspring of an hockey player may not be a hockey player.
