Why chloroplast is called semi autonomous in nature

Dear student,
Chloroplasts are called as the semiautonomous cell organelle because they have their own specific circular DNA. This DNA helps in the coding of some specific proteins which are required by the chloroplasts. They have 70s ribosomes and RNAs.These all help in the generation of their own energy and does not always need the help of the cell. Thus, chloroplast has its own DNA, therefore, it is called as the semiautonomous cell organelle.
