GANDHI STAYED ON BECAUSE HE WANTED TO IMPROVE THE SOCIO ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IN CHAMPARAN. HE WANTED TO UPLIFT THE PEOPLE FROM THEIR PITEOUS CONDITION. HE OPENED SCHOOLS IN CHAMPARAN, CALLED VOLUNTEERS FROM HIS ASHRAM AND TRIED TO FIND PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS OF PEOPLE LIVING THERE.

Acoording to author louis ficher gandhiji stayed with sharecroppers even after problem of peasant was resolved Gandhiji wanted do something for upliftment of peasant in terms of social; economic and cultural aspects. He along with his followers began teaching the illiterate children and his family members including her wife Kasturbai started awaring women about their personal hygine and also provided medicines for diseases spread in village.
