Why did gandhiji decide to organise hartal on 6th april 1919. How did the police react to it?

- Rallies were organized.
- Shops were closed etc.
- However, the British tried to control the situation. Nationalists were picked and beaten up.
- Gandhiji was barred from entering into the city.
- Martial Law was imposed.
- This also led to the infamous incident of Jaliawala Bagh.
