Yumi refused to wash the white man as requested by Hana. Hana chastises her to do as her master commands. Yet, there was a fierce look of resistance upon Yumi's face. She says that she will have nothing to do with him as she is a poor person and it was not her business. Hana tells her to leave. She gets irked because of Yumi's stubbornness and therefore calls her 'stupid'.
