why did some industrialists in nine teenth century europe prefer hand labour over machines?
The industrialists prefered hand labour over machine because -
1.In victorian Britain there was no shortage of labour .So cheap labour was available.
2.Some of the industries were seasonal and there production fluctated. So they prefered hand labour rather than huge machines which needed huge investments.
3.The machines could produce standarized products for mass market. But the market demanded for things with intricate designs.
4.The aristocratic families prefered hand labour as it symbolized class and refinement. They were carefully designed , handmade and individually produced. So they were perfered...... Hope this helps
