why do liquid have fixed volume but no fixed shape

In liquids particles are not so tightly bound and have spaces in between them and are free to move compared to solids. The intermolecular forces of attraction between the particles are less strong compared to solids hence liquids does have fixed shape but takes the shape of the container in which it is place i.e. it has fixed volume.

LIquid have fixed volume but not the fixed shape because it has less force of attraction.

It is the property of liquids. The molecules of the liquids are loosely bound. So, the liquid can take the shape of the container. But the volume of the liquid is fixed.

The intermolecular attraction is less thus creating more intermolecular space in liquids .Therefore , liquids have no fixed shape . They do have a fixed volume .
