Why do we have two eyes for vision and not just one ??

Our brains are pretty smart, and they do a lot of things for us without us really being aware of it. They keep us breathing, they keep our hearts pumping, and they help us interpret our senses. 

If you close your left eye, what do you see? If you close your right eye, what do you see? If you don’t see anything, you forgot to open your left eye again! 

The two images you saw were probably pretty similar. Your brain knows that and is able to put the two images together and make one single image.

With two eyes, we have a wider field of vision and can see more than we could with just one eye.

In a 3-D world, having two eyes helps us figure out how far away something is. Our eyes need to focus, or point themselves in certain ways, differently in order to see things at different distances. To see something very far away, our eyes can pretty much point straight forward. To see things really close, our eyes will have to slightly turn toward each other. The different focuses helps our brain figure out what is far away and what is really close! 

We have two eyes for vision and not just one because :-

i) It gives wider field of view - A human being can see 150⁰ with one eye horizontally but with two eyes open the field view becomes 180^0.

ii) Having two eyes enables u s to judge distance more accurately - Our two eyes are a few centimeters away from each other. Due to this the two eyes see the same object from two slightly different angles and send two slightly different images to the brain. The brain combines the image and forms 3D picture  of the object for e.g. if we take two sharp pencils and try to join it by opening two eyes it will be easy to join but if we try it to join with one eye open and one eye close then it will be little difficult for us to join the tips of the eye.

  so that our ''range of vision'' will be more / double ....We all have two eyes to see. An object emerges the same whether we see it with one eye or the both eyes.Actually, the visual axis of the eyes goes on changing and the images of the object formed on the retina by both eyes get merged into one by the brain.

Do you know why do we have two eyes?

If we see the distant objects with one eye, they will appear as clear as they would by both eyes. A difference occurs, if we see comparatively nearer objects. If we close our left eye, we cannot see the objects of left side. And if we close the right eye, we cannot see the objects of right side. With the help of both eyes we can get the correct assessment of distance. We can prove it by the following experiment. In your one hand take a pin and in the other hand take a comb. Now try to place the tip of the pin on one of the teeth of the comb. It becomes easy to do if both the eyes are open. But it takes more time to bring one point on the other if one of the eyes is closed. Only two dimensions of an object are perceived by us if we see the object with one eye. But if we see the object with both eyes, we see the objects in their totality. We see the objects of left side with left eye and the objects of right side with right eye. Therefore both the eyes make possible to have complete knowledge of the solidity and depth of the object. Another advantage of having two eyes is that a person does not become totally blind if one of the eyes of a person gets damaged because of some reason.

Having two eyes is certainly better than having just one because two eyes provide us with stereo vision anddepth perception -- two things that just eye could not give us.

For instance, if you hold up a flower and look at it with just your right eye, the image is different from the image of when you look at it with just your left eye. The right eye sees more of the right side of the flower while the left eye sees more of the left side of the flower. If you placed the two different images on top of one another, they would not match and our vision would be out of focus. However, our brains sort out these varying visual messages from our two eyes, combines the images, and the recreates one three-dimensional image.This is referred to as binocular vision. Just like your look through two lenses in binoculars, humans view the world through two lenses. The eyes of many other animals are placed differently than ours. Many birds have an eye on each side of their head. Each eye sees a completely separate area stretching out on the left or the right.

Viewing the world through two eyes provides us with depth perception. When you look at the flower through just one eye, it looks a lot flatter.

one eye just provides 150degree of vision. whereas two eyes gives a coverage of 180degree. and only because of the two eyes we get a 3d image

with the help of two eyes we get a wider field of view and one eye provides only 150degree of vision but two eyes provide 180 degrees of vision.
