why does suspension scatters a beam of light passing through it makes the light visible?

suspensions contains large number of tiny particles suspended in it. when the light pass through the suspension it falls over the particles and colloids with them which makes a refraction or reflection in their path through certain angle and their occurs scattering in light beam. Due to scattering of light , path of light is illuminated. This is also known as Tyndall effect.
