Why does the balloon fully inflated with air rise up vertically for some distance when punctured from below? What do you understand by the term momentum?

The balloon was filled with air and when the it is punctured the air comes out and the balloon rises.

The product of mass and velocity is called momentum, p = mv .

The mass of ball decreases ands consequently the velocity increases as the momentum remains conserved for a given system.
