WHY DOES THE CHALK POWDER SINK IN WATER AS IT IS LIGHTER IN WEIGHT???

Please note that chalk powder is not lighter but heavier than water. Also, it is insoluble in water. Thus, when chalk powder is mixed in water then being heavier it will settle down at the bottom.
