why does the charger as well as the device become hot while charging

The heat generation takes place in any electric circuit due to the resistance of different material. Due to this resistance, the electric devices generate heat also sometimes the kind of surface on which devices are placed also become the reason for this heating. The surfaces restricts air flow on the device or charger, which essentially traps the heat and thereby increases the temperature.
