why is heating sugar a physical change while burning of sugar a chemical change

Heating sugar melts it from solid to liquid state and it is a physical change. This change is reversible and does not involve formation of any new substances.
Burning sugar leads to reaction of sugar with oxygen in air and leads to formation of carbon dioxide and water. The change is irreversible and is thus a chemical change.
