Why is not tidal energy widely used for the generation of electricity....

Tidal power is not a widely used energy resource at the moment because its costs outweigh the advantages. Tidal energy has an expensive inital cost.
Earlier only very few specialized locations were there were we can use tidal energy to generate electricity as tidal patterns vary alot.
