Sedimentary cycle have their major reservoir in lithosphere from where elements are released by weathering.
The main stock of phosphorous is in the sediments of oceans, lakes and rocks. It is not found anywhere else in the biosphere. It takes long to reach this phosphorus in nutrient spiralling. Since, the main stock of phosphorous is in the sediments, that is why phosphorous cycle is called as sedimentary cycle.
