why Leptotene stage is also called BOUQUET stage.?

In Lepotene the chromosomes begin to condense and assume long thread like shape. however sister chromatids are still so tightly bound that they are indistinguishable.Chromosomes take specific orientation inside the nucleus; the telomeres  are oriented towards the nuclear membrane .Hence this stage is called  "BOUQUET " stage.

Lepotene stage is also known as BOUQUET state because the chromosomes touch the undersurface of  nuclear envelop by their telomeres pointing towards the centriols forming loops.

It has a structure like a flower bouquet.

When the chromatin form loops that resembles as bouquet. So this stage is ofen called as bouquet stage.

During leptotene stage ,the cromosomes start condensing and the sister cromatids arrange in such a manner that appear like a flower bouquet , thus this stage is called bouquet stage.

The leptotene stage, also known as the leptonema, is the first of five substages of prophase I in meiosis. The term leptonema derives from Greek words meaning "thin threads". A cell destined to become a gamete enters the leptotene stage after its chromosomes are duplicated during interphase.
