why pollination necessary in a flower ? How is it brought about?

Dear student,

Pollination is defined as the process of transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma for the purpose of fertilization in plants.
  • Pollination is very important as it is the mean of sexual reproduction in flowering plants.
  • Plants can not complete their life cycle without pollination.
  • Sexual reproduction is important as it generates variation and viable offsprings.
  • Without pollination plants will not be able to produce more offsprings. Animals depend on plant for their food. If, their are less or no plants, animals will also have to starve.

Pollination is important because it leads to the production of fruits we can eat, and seeds that will create more plants. Pollination begins with flowers. Flowers have male parts that produce very small grains called pollen. Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from one flower to another.
