Why the skin of tomato is red???????

Tomato consists of two types of pigments- chlorophyll and lycopene. When tomatoes are in the growing stage, they contain much less of lycopene as compared to chlorophyll. But when they begin to ripe, lycopene pigment increases and it gives red colour to the tomatoes.
